The OSG 8331202 is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal or external metric threads in demanding CNC machining applications. Built from solid carbide and finished with a DUROREY coating, this tool delivers hardness and wear resistance needed for production threading in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. It features 6 flutes in a left-hand flute direction, a cutting diameter of 4.00 mm, and a pitch of 0.80 mm to match M5x0.8 metric thread specifications. The long-reach design and coolant-through construction make it well suited for deep-reach applications where chip evacuation and thermal control are critical. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shop or production environments are the primary users of this tool.
This thread mill is intended for M5x0.8 metric thread applications on CNC machining centers. The left-hand thread direction and left-hand flute geometry are suited for cutting left-hand threads or for specific climb-milling strategies. The long-reach configuration allows access to threaded features in recessed bores or deep pockets where standard-reach tools cannot reach. Coolant-through capability supports chip flushing and heat management during extended cuts. This tool is part of the OSG Series 16640 and is packaged individually.
Designed for M5x0.8 metric thread milling on CNC machining centers. Suited for use with toolholders accepting a 6.00 mm shank diameter.
Installation and operation of this thread mill should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling specialist. Secure the 6.00 mm shank in a precision collet or toolholder rated for the intended spindle speeds and feed rates before operation. Power down and lock out the spindle before tool changes. Verify thread direction, flute direction, and CNC program parameters match the left-hand specifications of this tool before running a cycle.
