The OSG 82104221 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance milling across a wide range of materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It carries a 0.5 inch diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and a 1 inch length of cut, with a 3 inch overall length and a 0.5 inch straight cylindrical shank. The Duarise PVD coating improves wear resistance and surface finish quality. A variable helix geometry reduces chatter and harmonics during aggressive cuts. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole. This tool suits both roughing and finishing operations and is sold as a single-end tool in OSG Series 8210.
The 82104221 is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where close-tolerance contouring and corner profiling are required. The 0.015 inch corner radius reduces stress concentrations at part corners and extends tool life compared to sharp-edge end mills. Its multi-material rating makes it a practical choice for job shops and production environments machining steel alloys, stainless grades, cast iron, aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and hardened materials. The tool seats into a standard toolholder with a cylindrical shank interface and accepts right-hand cutting direction in right-hand spindle rotation.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical-bore toolholders. Compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills running right-hand spindle rotation. Shank diameter tolerance is h6 for consistent fit in collet chucks and end mill holders.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Power down or E-stop the machine and confirm spindle is fully stopped before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth per the toolholder manufacturer before tightening. Inspect the corner radius and flute edges for chips or coating damage before each use, particularly when machining hardened or abrasive materials.
