The OSG 7813062 is a solid carbide milling insert manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, carrying grade designation XP2040 with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The insert features an octagonal shape with 16 cutting edges, a negative rake geometry, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. At 0.2228 inches thick with an inscribed circle diameter of 0.6719 inches, it is built for precision milling applications in demanding materials. A 0.0313-inch corner radius and GM chip breaker geometry support controlled chip evacuation and consistent surface finish. Screw-held mounting keeps the insert securely indexed in compatible 78PAO series cutter bodies.
This insert is designed primarily for milling stainless steel (ISO material group M) and steel (ISO material group P), making it a practical choice for job shops and production environments running difficult-to-machine alloys. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile operations where edge integrity and coating durability are priorities. It is a right-hand cut, double-sided insert, giving the tool a longer effective service life before replacement. Machinists running OSG 78PAO series cutter bodies will find this insert fits the Series 78PAO platform directly.
Designed for use with OSG 78PAO series milling cutter bodies. ANSI and ISO code: OZKU060508SR-GM. Insert size code: 060508.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling setup personnel using the screw-clamp method standard to indexed insert tooling. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or indexing any insert. Inspect the cutter pocket and clamping screw threads for debris or damage before installing a new insert. Confirm the insert is fully seated and the clamping screw is torqued per the cutter body manufacturer specification before resuming operation.
