The OSG 654025012 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications where standard-length tooling cannot reach. Built to Series 6540 specifications, this bit features a 140-degree split point and an EgiAs coating engineered to reduce friction and extend tool life in demanding materials. The flute length measures 150 mm and the overall length (OAL) reaches 200 mm, giving machinists and tool-room technicians the reach needed for deep bores without sacrificing rigidity. The 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. Coolant-through capability supports high-feed operations where chip evacuation and heat control are critical.
This drill bit suits CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual toolroom operations where extended reach into workpieces is required. The 20xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for deep-hole work in steel, stainless, aluminum, and other materials where solid carbide and EgiAs coating provide a performance advantage over high-speed steel alternatives. It is sized at Letter E, equivalent to 0.2500 inch, making it a direct fit for applications calling out that drill size. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. Typical users include machinist and toolroom professionals working in production shops, job shops, and maintenance environments.
Designed as an OSG Series 6540 solid carbide extra length drill for use in standard 1/4 inch drill chucks and collet holders on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinist or toolroom personnel with the machine powered down and locked out per established LOTO procedures. Inspect the shank and collet or chuck bore for chips, debris, or runout before seating the bit. Secure the shank to the full recommended grip depth to minimize deflection on this extended-length tool. Refer to OSG Series 6540 cutting data recommendations for speeds, feeds, and coolant pressure specific to the workpiece material.
