The OSG 654021712 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit designed for demanding drilling applications where standard-length tools cannot reach. Built from solid carbide with an EgiAs coating finish, this bit delivers hardness and wear resistance suited to production machining environments. It features a 140-degree drill point angle for aggressive entry and reduced thrust, along with X-thinned web geometry to improve chip evacuation and center cutting performance. At a flute-to-diameter ratio of 20xD, it handles deep-hole work where rigidity and coolant delivery are critical. Internal coolant-through capability supports high-speed drilling in difficult materials.
This drill bit is suited for CNC machining centers and production drilling operations requiring deep-hole capability beyond what jobber-length drills provide. The straight cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Its 2-flute right-hand cutting configuration is appropriate for materials where chip clearance in deep cavities is a priority. Machinists, toolroom operators, and production floor technicians working in metal fabrication, aerospace, mold-and-die, and precision machining will find this bit well matched to their applications. It belongs to OSG Series 6540.
Designed for use in standard collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 0.2500-inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of OSG Series 6540 extra length carbide drill line.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit. Verify shank seating depth and runout in the tool holder before commencing any cut. Coolant-through tooling requires a compatible spindle coolant system to be active prior to cutting to prevent thermal damage to the carbide substrate.
