The OSG 653025012 is a taper length, solid carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. It features a 140-degree split point with X-thinned web geometry, which reduces thrust force and improves centering at entry. The 1/4-inch (0.2500-inch) diameter straight shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. The EgiAs coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat dissipation, making this bit well-suited for high-speed drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal control during deep-hole drilling operations. This bit belongs to the OSG Series 6530 taper length platform.
This drill bit is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated drilling cells where consistent hole quality and tool life are critical. The 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio and taper length body make it appropriate for applications requiring deeper reach than a jobber-length bit without sacrificing rigidity. Right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes clean chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole drilling. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators in metalworking shops are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement drill bit for applications requiring a 1/4-inch diameter, taper length, solid carbide twist drill with a straight shank. Part of the OSG Series 6530 product family.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with carbide tooling and proper speeds-and-feeds selection. Secure the straight shank fully within a collet, drill chuck, or toolholder before operation, and verify runout before cutting. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts, or re-chucking over worn collets without inspection. Enable coolant-through flow before initiating the cut when using the internal coolant feature.
