The OSG 652028011 is a taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding machining applications. Built from solid carbide, this bit delivers rigidity and wear resistance well beyond high-speed steel alternatives. It features a 140-degree split point angle, spiral flute geometry, and an EgiAs coating for improved surface lubricity and heat management. The straight shank measures 5/16 inch in diameter, and the flute length-to-diameter ratio of 8xD supports deep-hole drilling with consistent chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability makes it well suited for CNC machining centers and production drilling environments where thermal control is critical.
This drill bit is intended for use in metalworking and precision machining applications, including production drilling of steel, stainless, cast iron, and non-ferrous alloys. The 0.2813-inch (9/32 inch) diameter and taper length profile are appropriate for general toolroom use as well as automated machining operations. X-thinned web geometry reduces thrust force at the point, which is particularly useful when drilling harder materials or working with tight positional tolerances. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and CNC operators are the primary installers and users of this tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style taper length drill bit for use in standard straight-shank tool holders and drill chucks accepting a 5/16-inch shank diameter in CNC and manual machining setups.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the tool holder or chuck is clean, properly torqued, and rated for the intended spindle speed before use. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to interrupted cuts or side-loading beyond the geometry's design intent. Always confirm coolant supply lines are open and flowing before initiating through-coolant drilling cycles.
