The OSG 651021711 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built to Series 6510 specifications, it features an EgiAs coating, a 140-degree R-thinned point, and a 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch / 5.56 mm) cutting diameter with a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The 140-degree point geometry reduces thrust and improves self-centering on entry. With a 2-flute spiral configuration and tapered web, this bit handles blind holes, cross holes, and through-hole drilling in ferrous and exotic materials. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working on production or maintenance drilling applications.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. The EgiAs coating provides wear resistance and thermal protection in these harder workpiece materials. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and coolant-through design make it appropriate for CNC machining centers and drill presses where through-spindle or external coolant is applied. The 100 mm overall length and jobber-length proportions fit standard tool holders accepting a 1/4 inch shank.
Designed for use in machining centers, CNC drill presses, and manual drill presses accepting a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for workpiece material codes P (steel), K (cast iron), S (titanium and titanium alloys), and H (hardened materials) per ISO classification.
Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the intended spindle speed before use. Ensure coolant lines are functioning if through-spindle coolant is used, as the EgiAs coating and carbide substrate perform best with consistent thermal management. Do not use in hand-held portable drills, as carbide bits are sensitive to lateral deflection and side loading. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use.
