The OSG 650042111 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 0.422 inches (27/64 inch) in diameter with an overall length of approximately 4.45 inches (113 mm) and a flute length of approximately 2.13 inches (54 mm). The 140-degree split point and R-thinned web reduce entry thrust and improve centering without a pilot hole. Two spiral flutes and a straight-cylindrical shank make this a straightforward drop-in for standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders. Coolant-through capability supports higher feed rates in production environments. Installed by machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and CNC operators.
This drill bit is built for production and precision drilling in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. The screw machine length (stub) profile provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for close-tolerance work on mills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. The Series 6500 designation places it in OSG high-performance tooling, intended for shops running tight diameter tolerances and consistent cycle times. It fits within the 0.4000 to 0.4500 inch diameter range category and carries a diameter tolerance of +0 to -0.027 mm.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloy workpieces. Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet holders used on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills. Diameter falls within the 0.4000 to 0.4500 inch (9.50 to 11.00 mm) tooling range.
Install and remove tooling only with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped. Secure the shank fully within the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth for the toolholder being used. Verify coolant-through connections are properly seated before running at elevated feed rates. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side-loading or interrupted cuts that exceed the tool's rated application.
