The OSG 650021711 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from solid carbide with a coated finish, this bit measures 7/32 inch (0.2188 inches) in diameter and features a 140-degree split point angle for accurate starting and reduced thrust. The right-hand spiral flute geometry and R-thinned web provide efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting resistance. At 82.00 mm (approximately 3.23 inches) overall length, the stub-length profile offers rigidity in tight clearance or production drilling setups. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed machining operations where heat management is critical.
This drill bit is suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent hole quality in hard or tough materials is required. Primary workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it a practical choice for short, accurate holes in ferrous and exotic metal components.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloy workpieces. Part of the OSG Series 6500 high-performance screw machine length drill bit line.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized collet or drill chuck to the tool holder manufacturer's specified clamping torque. Verify coolant-through lines are clear and flow is confirmed before beginning a high-speed cycle. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and sensitive to improper handling or interrupted cuts.
