The OSG 650016311 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 4.16 mm (0.1636 inch) cutting diameter and a 140-degree R-thinned point, it delivers fast penetration and reduced thrust in hard and abrasive materials. The overall length is 80 mm (3.15 inches) with a 26 mm flute length, keeping the tool compact and rigid for short-hole work. A 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank ensures secure seating in standard drill chucks and toolholders. This bit ships individually and is suited for machinists, tool and die shops, and production drilling operations.
The 650016311 is built for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. Its screw machine length body reduces deflection in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turret lathes where short, stiff tooling is required. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in shallow holes. Coolant-through capability makes it effective in high-speed production runs where heat management is critical. This bit fits Series 6500 tooling setups and is appropriate for precision hole-making where tight diameter tolerances are required.
Part of OSG Series 6500. Designed for use in drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. Compatible with standard straight-cylindrical shank toolholders accepting a 6 mm shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with carbide cutting tool handling. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder or drill chuck before operation, and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. When enabling coolant-through flow, confirm the machine spindle and toolholder are rated for internal coolant delivery. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts beyond the tool rating, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces.
