The OSG 63710 is a single-ended spotting drill designed to create precise starter points for follow-on drilling operations. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 60-degree drill point angle produces a clean, accurate cone-shaped dimple that guides subsequent drills on center, reducing wander and improving hole location accuracy. With a 10mm cutting diameter, 93mm overall length, and 30mm flute length, this tool suits a range of general-purpose machining applications. It is sized for use in standard CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses.
The OSG 63710 is intended for general-purpose spotting and centering in metalworking environments. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 10mm in diameter, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and drill chucks found in most machine shop setups. The two-spiral-flute geometry with a 20-degree helix angle aids chip evacuation during the spotting pass. This tool is suited for machinists, tool-and-die makers, and production shop operators working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials in both prototype and production runs.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill compatible with standard 10mm collet chucks, ER collet systems, and drill chucks used on CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and drill presses. Part of OSG Series 1200.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized collet or chuck to the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque before beginning any operation. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings against the material being worked before initiating the cut. Protective eyewear and appropriate machine guarding should be in place during all machining operations per applicable shop safety standards.
