The OSG 631024911 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter E (0.2500 inch / 6.35 mm). It features a 140-degree R-thinned point that promotes self-centering entry and reduces thrust load on the spindle. The EgiAs multi-layer coating extends tool life in abrasive and hardened workpiece materials. With a straight cylindrical shank and right-hand spiral flute geometry, this drill mounts directly in standard chucks and collet holders. It is built to OSG Series 6310 specifications and is intended for high-performance production or job-shop drilling in ferrous materials. Overall length is 3.5827 inches (91.00 mm) and the flute length is 2.0866 inches (53.00 mm).
This drill bit is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, cast iron, and hardened materials. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance in moderate-depth applications. It is commonly used in machining centers, CNC lathes with live tooling, and manual drill presses wherever solid carbide tooling is specified over high-speed steel. The tapered web and R-thinned point geometry reduce the need for a separate center-drill operation on flat or slightly curved surfaces.
Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide jobber drill for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and ER collet holders accepting a 0.2500-inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece material codes P, K, and H cover steel, cast iron, and hardened materials.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Confirm that the chuck or collet is rated for the spindle speed being used with carbide tooling. Avoid side-loading the drill during entry, as solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to fracture under lateral force. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant where the machining setup permits, even though this drill does not feature through-coolant capability.
