The OSG 631012311 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous metals including steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. The bit measures 1/8 inch (3.18 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 74 millimeters and a flute length of 28 millimeters. The 140-degree split point uses an X-Thinned web geometry that reduces thrust and promotes self-centering without a center punch. An EgiAs coating provides heat and wear resistance suited to production drilling cycles. Right-hand spiral flutes with a regular helix evacuate chips efficiently through the cut.
This drill is suited for blind hole, cross hole, and through-hole drilling operations in steel and cast iron. The 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it a standard jobber-length option for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and general metalworking environments. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks and collets sized for 1/8 inch tooling. It is sold individually and is appropriate wherever a compact, rigid solid carbide drill is needed in steel or cast iron applications.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces (primary material codes P, K, H). Fits any drill chuck or collet accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG Series 6310 high-performance carbide drill line.
Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or tool and die tradespeople. Ensure the spindle and chuck are fully powered down before inserting or removing the bit. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without proper feed rate adjustment, and contact with hardened surfaces that exceed the tool's rated material scope. Follow machine manufacturer feed and speed guidelines for solid carbide drills in the applicable workpiece material.
