The OSG 62555 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and aluminum alloys. It is manufactured from vanadium high speed steel and coated with titanium nitride (TiN) for extended tool life and reduced heat buildup at the cutting edge. The bit measures 5.5 mm in diameter with an overall length of 101 mm and a flute length of 57 mm. A 120-degree S-thinned point promotes self-centering entry and reduces thrust force on hard materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks. Machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians install this bit in both handheld and machine applications.
The OSG 62555 is suited for blind hole, cross hole, and through-hole drilling operations in production and maintenance settings. Its regular spiral flute geometry and tapered web configuration support efficient chip evacuation in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The bit is rated for steel and stainless steel (material codes P and M) as well as aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate (material code N), making it appropriate for mixed-material workflows on the shop floor or in the field. Coolant-through capability is not available on this model.
The OSG 62555 falls within the 5.00 mm to 6.00 mm drill bit size range and is compatible with any standard drill chuck or machine spindle accepting a straight-cylindrical 6 mm shank. It is part of OSG Series 1600.
This bit is installed by machinists and maintenance technicians using standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, or handheld power drills rated for the shank diameter. Ensure the chuck is clean and the shank is fully seated before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant on the workpiece surface when drilling ferrous materials to manage heat and extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the bit if the TiN coating is worn through or the point is chipped.
