The OSG 62553 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during cutting. The 5.3 mm diameter bit features a 120-degree point angle with an S-thinned web for self-centering entry and reduced thrust. A regular spiral flute and right-hand cut geometry evacuate chips efficiently. Overall length is 96 mm with a 52 mm flute length. Licensed machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this bit.
This bit is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6 mm in diameter, fitting standard drill chucks and CNC tool holders. Series 1600 positions this as a high-performance general-purpose bit for production and maintenance environments where repeatability and tool longevity matter. It is not designed for coolant-through applications.
Compatible with workpiece materials coded P, M, and N per ISO material classification, covering carbon steels, stainless steels, and non-ferrous aluminum alloys. The 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders used in bench drills, hand drills, and CNC machining centers.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout before cutting into finished workpieces. Ensure spindle speed and feed rate match the workpiece material to avoid premature coating wear or bit breakage. This bit is not designed for coolant-through delivery, so apply cutting fluid externally when drilling deep holes or hard alloys. Inspect the cutting edges for wear regularly and replace before tolerances drift outside acceptable range.
