The OSG 61610 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction compared to uncoated HSS. The bit measures 11.00 mm in diameter with an overall length of 104.00 mm and a flute length of 47.00 mm. The 120-degree faceted point angle and web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation. Right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute pattern makes this a standard workhorse for production drilling environments.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The screw machine length designation means a shorter, more rigid body compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations where reduced deflection and improved hole accuracy matter. The straight-cylindrical shank and 12.00 mm shank diameter are compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems used in production machine shops and fabrication environments.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 12.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate per OSG Series 1100 specifications.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tool-and-die technicians familiar with proper speeds and feeds for HSS TiN-coated tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Do not exceed the rated cutting parameters for the workpiece material, as overheating will degrade the TiN coating. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use flood or mist coolant externally when drilling deep holes or hard materials.
