The OSG 61600 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance metal drilling in demanding shop and field applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, it measures 10.00 mm (0.3937 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 93.00 mm and a flute length of 43.00 mm. The 120-degree faceted drill point, web-thinned geometry, and tapered web configuration reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation. Two spiral flutes and a straight-cylindrical shank make this bit compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders. Licensed machinists, tool and die technicians, and general fabricators rely on this series for consistent hole quality in production environments.
The OSG 61600 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The screw machine length body provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it especially effective in short-reach setups, turret lathes, screw machines, and CNC machining centers where runout and deflection must be minimized. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip clearance across moderate-depth holes without pecking cycles in most setups.
The OSG 61600 falls within the Series 1100 product family and is designed for workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. It fits standard straight-cylindrical chuck systems accepting 10.00 mm shank diameters.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with speeds and feeds for high speed steel cutting tools. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before cutting. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery; apply cutting fluid externally as appropriate for the workpiece material and machine setup. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if edge integrity is compromised.
