The OSG 61550 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance metal drilling in professional machining and fabrication environments. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a coated finish, this bit features a 0.1969 inch (5.00 mm) diameter, a 120-degree faceted drill point, and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 70.00 mm. The screw machine length profile provides increased rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for close-tolerance drilling on drill presses, CNC machines, and automated screw machine setups.
This bit is intended for use in production and job shop environments where consistent hole quality in ferrous and non-ferrous materials is required. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry make this bit a practical choice for general production drilling as well as higher-volume repetitive operations. It is sized within the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch decimal inch range, fitting common toolholding systems used in standard machine shop equipment.
Designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG Series 1100 screw machine length drill line.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tool and die professionals familiar with machine tool operation. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth to prevent pullout under load. Coolant through is not supported on this bit; use external flood or mist coolant as appropriate for the workpiece material and feed rate.
