The OSG 61505 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in tight-clearance applications where a shorter flute and overall length are required. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit measures 0.50 mm (0.0197 inches) in diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank of the same diameter. The 150-degree faceted point geometry is web-thinned with a tapered web configuration, reducing entry force and improving centering accuracy. With a 2-flute regular spiral design and a flute-to-diameter ratio of 5xD, it handles chip evacuation efficiently at small diameters. Licensed trades and precision machinists install this bit where compact reach and accurate hole size are critical.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The screw machine length format makes it appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and bench-top setups where stub-length tools are preferred for rigidity. It cuts right-hand and does not require coolant through the tool, though external coolant or cutting fluid is standard practice on harder workpiece materials. The OSG Series 1100 line targets high-performance small-diameter drilling where tight diameter tolerances are required.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks; compatible with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpiece materials as specified by the manufacturer for the OSG Series 1100.
This drill bit is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in CNC or manual drilling equipment accepting straight-cylindrical shanks. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation. At sub-millimeter diameters, use appropriate low-runout toolholding to prevent bit deflection or breakage. Apply cutting fluid or external coolant when drilling steel or stainless steel to extend tool life.
