The OSG 5733900 is a single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Manufactured from 3% vanadium high speed steel, it delivers solid wear resistance and edge retention at conventional cutting speeds. The 2-flute configuration provides efficient chip evacuation, making it well-suited for slotting and side milling applications where chip clearance is a priority. With a 1 inch cutting diameter, 1-5/8 inch length of cut, 1 inch shank diameter, and 4-1/8 inch overall length, this end mill fits standard milling machine and machining center toolholders without the need for reducers or adapters.
This end mill is used in general machining environments including job shops, maintenance facilities, and production floors. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action and helps reduce chatter during side milling passes. The centercutting geometry allows the tool to plunge directly into the workpiece, enabling ramping and plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. It is intended for use in manual knee mills, CNC vertical machining centers, and similar setups where a right-hand cut, right-hand flute, spiral-flute end mill in a standard regular-length format is required.
Designed as a standard OEM-style replacement or new-install end mill for milling machines and machining centers that accept a 1 inch straight shank toolholder. Part of the OSG Series 573 regular-length square end mill line.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. The machine spindle must be fully powered down and locked out before loading or removing the tool from the toolholder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped to the specified toolholder torque per the toolholder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the workpiece to maximize tool life and surface finish quality.
