The OSG 5223105 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations that demand durability and heat resistance. Built to M42 cobalt material grade, this double-end tool features a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 1-5/16 inch length of cut, and a 5 inch overall length. The TiN (titanium nitride) coating reduces friction and extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With 2 spiral flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, it produces efficient chip evacuation during peripheral and slot milling. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill in manual and CNC machining centers for general-purpose material removal.
This end mill suits production and maintenance machining environments where a center-cutting, right-hand cut tool is required. The right-hand flute configuration and 30-degree helix make it appropriate for steel, stainless steel, and other moderate-to-hard workpiece materials. Its 3/4 inch shank diameter accommodates standard collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found in vertical machining centers and knee mills. The double-end design extends usable tool life by providing two cutting ends per shank.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production end mill compatible with 3/4 inch collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and end mill holders used in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and similar equipment. Part of OSG Series 522.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine placed in a safe, locked-out state per applicable machine guarding and OSHA lockout/tagout requirements. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and verify runout before beginning a cut. Inspect both cutting ends for chipping or wear before each use. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and OSG published cutting data for recommended speeds and feeds.
