The OSG 5201305 is a 2-flute cobalt square end mill designed for milling ferrous and abrasion-resistant materials in machining center and manual mill applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it carries a TiN (titanium nitride) finish that extends tool life in demanding cuts. The cutter measures 0.625 inches in diameter with a 1.125-inch length of cut, a 0.500-inch shank diameter, and a 3.125-inch overall length. The 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation while the centercutting design allows plunge entry. Machinists and toolroom operators working in job shops, maintenance, and production environments reach for this series when material hardness demands cobalt over standard HSS.
The OSG 5201305 suits milling operations that require slotting, profiling, and peripheral side milling in alloy steels, tool steels, stainless, and similarly tough workpiece materials. Its regular-length geometry fits standard tool holders without extended reach. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the 0.500-inch shank fully into the tool holder and torque the retention mechanism per the tool holder manufacturer specifications before starting the spindle. Inspect the flutes for chips or coating damage before each use; a damaged cutting edge should not be run at full feed rates.
