The OSG 520062512 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. With a 5/8-inch (0.6250 inch) diameter and a 140-degree R-thinned point, this bit delivers fast, accurate entry with reduced thrust in hard and abrasive materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or toolholders. At 145 mm (5.7087 inches) overall length, the screw machine format provides added rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it well suited for CNC machining centers and production drilling environments where runout and deflection must be minimized.
This drill bit is built for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. The coated solid carbide construction and 2-flute spiral configuration support chip evacuation in both through-hole and blind-hole setups. Coolant-through capability allows internal coolant delivery to the cutting zone, extending tool life and maintaining cut quality at higher feed rates. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make this series a practical choice for high-volume production floors, job shops, and toolrooms running difficult workpiece materials.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production drilling setups where a 5/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank is accepted. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloy.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Verify chuck or collet condition and shank seating before running at speed. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and OSG Series 5200 guidelines for feed rate and spindle speed based on workpiece material. When using coolant-through capability, confirm that the coolant system is primed and flowing before engaging the cut.
