The OSG 519035017 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate, precise starter holes for follow-on drilling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 140-degree point angle and a 0.5000-inch cutting diameter, this tool establishes a clean, centered seat that reduces walking and improves hole-location accuracy. The EgiAs coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat reduction at the cutting edge. At 4.3701 inches overall length with a 1.4173-inch flute length, this is a compact, rigid tool suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills alike. Installed by machinists and toolroom professionals.
The OSG 519035017 is built for general-purpose spotting across a range of workpiece materials commonly encountered in production and job-shop environments. Its right-hand cut, spiral flute geometry, and 25-degree helix angle make it well suited for use in machining centers handling steel, aluminum, and similar materials. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.5000 inches diameter fits standard ER and drill-chuck toolholding systems without modification.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with standard 1/2-inch straight-shank toolholding systems.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder and verify runout before use. Ensure the spindle is at a full stop and machine power is off before changing or adjusting tooling. Follow machine-specific feeds and speeds guidelines; do not exceed the toolholder rated RPM for the shank diameter.
