The OSG 496-7503 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling operations. Built with four flutes and a 3/4-inch shank diameter, this single-end tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and surface finish across a wide range of workpiece materials. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding cuts. The bright, uncoated finish makes this end mill well-suited for non-ferrous metals and other applications where coating is not required. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC and manual milling setups.
This end mill is appropriate for general-purpose milling in job shop, production machining, and manufacturing environments. Its right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute spiral are standard for conventional and climb milling operations. The centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry in addition to peripheral cuts, expanding its range of use. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and pocketing in metals, composites, and similar materials.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill with a 3/4-inch shank for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and other milling equipment equipped with compatible collet chucks or end mill holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. The shank should be seated to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder to minimize runout and prevent pull-out during cutting. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use.
