The OSG 484-3125-BN11 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. With a 0.3125 inch (5/16 inch) mill diameter, 4-flute configuration, and a TiAlN (PVD) coating, this tool delivers reliable performance across roughing and finishing operations. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the micrograin carbide substrate supports cutting in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. At 4 inches overall length with a 1.625 inch reach length, it is classified as an extra-long series tool suited for deep-cavity and contoured-surface work. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in shop and production environments.
This end mill is part of OSG Series 484BN, positioned as an economical solid carbide option without sacrificing dimensional consistency or tolerance control. It is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank design makes it compatible with standard end mill holders and collet chucks. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard on this tool. No chipbreaker, no coolant-through feature, and no extended reach or variable helix geometry are present on this model.
Rated for use on secondary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, and hard material (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, H). Straight-cylindrical shank fits standard end mill holders and collet systems accepting a 0.3125 inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and verify runout before cutting. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool path is programmed for right-hand cutting direction before engaging the workpiece. Follow shop safety protocols and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when setting cutting parameters for carbide tooling.
