The OSG 484-250208 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built on OSG Series 484, it features a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral design at a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. At 6 inches overall length with a 1.5-inch length of cut, this is an extra-long reach tool suited for deep-pocket and contour milling operations. Micrograin carbide substrate adds rigidity and edge retention. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC milling applications.
This end mill fits standard 0.25-inch collet and end mill holders on vertical and horizontal milling machines and CNC machining centers. The extra-long overall length of 6 inches makes it appropriate for applications requiring extended reach into deep cavities, pockets, or tall workpiece features where a standard-length end mill cannot reach. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration follows the standard convention for the majority of CNC spindle setups.
Designed for use with standard 0.25-inch collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Shank diameter tolerance is +0.00000 / -0.0005 inches for consistent tool holding fit.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is powered down or in E-stop before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended grip depth in the tool holder — with an extra-long tool, minimize overhang to reduce deflection and chatter risk. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping before initiating a cut.
