The OSG 484-2362-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining applications. Part of the OSG 484BN series, it features a 6.00 mm diameter cutting edge with a matching 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank and a 38.00 mm length of cut. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree medium helix angle supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The micrograin carbide substrate provides wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The bright/uncoated finish keeps the tool economical while maintaining consistent tolerancing to a mill diameter tolerance of +0.00/-0.05 mm. At 102.00 mm overall length, this is an extra-long configuration suited for deeper cavity work.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills where a ball-nose profile is required for 3D contouring, slotting, and profiling. It is compatible with workpiece materials spanning multiple ISO material groups, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials. The single-end design and straight shank make it straightforward to fixture in standard collet chucks or end mill holders. It is well suited for tool and die, mold making, and general precision part machining environments where consistent performance is required across medium to high volumes.
Rated for use on steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), cast iron (ISO K), non-ferrous metals (ISO N), and hard materials (ISO H) as specified in the OSG 484BN series documentation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder, ensuring adequate engagement length to prevent pull-out under load. Confirm the spindle and tool holder are clean and free of runout before tightening. Always set the machine to a safe condition and verify zero offsets before beginning a new cutting operation.
