The OSG 484-1876 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 3/16 inch mill diameter and a 1 inch length of cut, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in a range of materials. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cut surface. The micrograin carbide substrate provides rigidity and wear resistance in demanding cutting conditions. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and runs uncoated for direct use or as a candidate for aftermarket coating. It is sold individually and suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is appropriate for light-to-medium material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites. The 3/16 inch shank diameter matches the mill diameter for use in standard collets and end mill holders without step-down adapters. The 4 inch overall length provides sufficient reach for typical workpiece setups while maintaining rigidity. Machinists in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments commonly use this size for finishing passes and fine detail work. The Series 484 designation places it within OSG standard solid carbide end mill offerings.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard ER collets, end mill holders, and tooling systems accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter. Part of the OSG Series 484 solid carbide end mill line.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the machine manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing or inspecting the tool. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity class.
