The OSG 484-1250-BN11 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. The tool measures 0.125 inches in diameter with a 1-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length, placing it in the extra-long category for added reach in deep-cavity work. A TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, making this end mill effective across both roughing and finishing operations. The micrograin carbide substrate supports fine edge retention at elevated cutting speeds. This tool is built to OSG quality standards within the 484BN series and is suited for installation by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
The 484-1250-BN11 is appropriate for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and H. The 0.0625-inch nose radius and 30-degree medium helix angle with right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction make it well suited for contour milling, profiling, and slotting in both ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.125-inch shank diameter fits standard collet and end mill holders used in vertical and horizontal machining centers. No coolant-through capability; flood or mist coolant applied externally is the typical approach.
Designed for use in standard collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 0.125-inch straight-cylindrical shank, as used on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines capable of running solid carbide tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Secure the shank fully within the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening; inadequate engagement increases the risk of pullout under cutting loads. Inspect the tool edge for chipping or wear before each use. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are properly fixtured and that the machine is at a complete stop before changing tooling.
