The OSG 482-500011 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for demanding material removal in professional machining environments. With a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, this tool is classified as an extra-long series cutter, making it well-suited for deep-pocket and extended-reach milling operations. The micrograin carbide substrate supports the TiAlN coating, which improves thermal resistance and tool life at elevated cutting speeds. Two spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a strong core. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
The 482-500011 is designed for general-purpose profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling where extended reach is required. The 0.5-inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter for direct collet or end mill holder mounting. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional lateral cutting paths. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follow the standard convention for the majority of CNC and manual spindles. The extra-long configuration is particularly useful when machining deep cavities, tall workpieces, or features inaccessible to standard-length tooling.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual mills requiring a 0.5-inch shank end mill with extended reach capability.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. The shank must be fully engaged in a collet, end mill holder, or hydraulic chuck rated for 0.5-inch tooling before use. Ensure spindle power is fully off and locked out before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting to confirm proper seating and minimize tool deflection, especially critical at extended overhang lengths.
