The OSG 482-375008 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide stock and finished with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this tool delivers extended wear life and heat resistance compared to uncoated or HSS alternatives. It runs a 2-flute, spiral-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle and a right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration. The cutting diameter is 0.375 inches, the length of cut (LOC) is 1.75 inches, and the overall length (OAL) is 4 inches. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry as well as standard peripheral milling. This tool is sold as a single unit.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a longer reach is required. The extra-long length classification and 1.75-inch LOC make it appropriate for deeper cavity work where standard-length tooling cannot reach. It fits into any machine spindle accepting a 3/8-inch shank, including vertical machining centers, CNC knee mills, and manual milling machines. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar materials will find this geometry and coating well-matched to general-purpose cutting tasks.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for any spindle accepting a 3/8-inch straight shank; part of the OSG Series 482 extra-long square end mill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Secure the shank fully in a collet or end-mill holder rated for the shank diameter before operation; never leave less than the recommended engagement length in the holder. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against published cutting data for the workpiece material before engaging the cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use and remove from service if damage is observed.
