The OSG 464-625011 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal cutting applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating, this tool delivers heat resistance and wear performance in demanding ferrous and non-ferrous cutting environments. The 4-flute, spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. At 5/8 inch in diameter with a 2-1/4 inch length of cut and 5 inch overall length, it falls into the long series category, giving machinists greater reach in deep-pocket and slotting operations. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry.
The 464-625011 is suited for milling operations on machining centers and manual mills in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. The long series length makes it especially useful for deep pocket milling, shoulder milling, and slotting where standard-length tools cannot reach. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC and manual vertical milling setups. The TiAlN finish extends tool life in dry or minimal-lubrication cutting conditions typical of modern high-speed machining operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling option for standard 5/8 inch ER or end mill holder collet chucks used in vertical machining centers and manual knee mills requiring a long-series 4-flute square end mill.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using an appropriate collet chuck or end mill holder rated for the 5/8 inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before tool changes. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating to confirm proper chuck engagement. Follow shop-specific feeds, speeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the workpiece material being machined.
