The OSG 464-3125-BN08 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hardened materials. The ball nose profile produces contoured surfaces, radii, and 3D profiling cuts where a flat end mill cannot reach. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this tool offers the rigidity and edge retention required for high-speed and hard-milling applications. The TiCN coating reduces friction and increases surface hardness, extending tool life in abrasive or interrupted-cut conditions. With a 0.3125-inch diameter, 1.125-inch length of cut, and 4-flute geometry at a 30-degree helix, this mill suits both roughing and finishing passes in a single-end, right-hand cutting configuration.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills running ferrous metals, stainless steels, cast iron, and similar materials. The long series designation provides additional reach for deeper pockets and contoured cavities without requiring extended-reach tooling. The 5/16-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, Weldon holders, and shrink-fit tooling commonly found in job shop and production environments. It is typically installed by machinists and tooling technicians working in metalworking, moldmaking, and precision manufacturing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 5/16-inch shank diameter end mill in ER collet, Weldon, or shrink-fit toolholding systems. Part of the OSG Series 464BN long ball end mill family.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the tool. Confirm the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the tool holder per the holder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality.
