The OSG 462-6250 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composites, and other hard materials. Built from micrograin carbide, this tool delivers consistent cutting performance and edge retention across demanding applications. It features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 2-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 5 inch overall length. The 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote smooth chip evacuation and reduce cutting forces. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC mills and manual milling machines.
This end mill suits general-purpose and long-reach milling applications in job shops, production facilities, and toolrooms. The 5/8 inch shank diameter provides a secure, low-runout grip in standard collets and end mill holders. The 2-flute configuration is well suited for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling in aluminum, plastics, and softer steels. The uncoated micrograin carbide substrate is appropriate for applications where coating interaction with the workpiece or cutting fluid is a concern, and it accepts resharpening to extend tool life.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in OSG Series 462, intended for use in standard 5/8 inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with toolholder torque requirements and runout verification. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool. Ensure the shank is clean and fully seated in the holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against the material-specific data for solid carbide end mills before cutting.
