The OSG 46142 is a round threading die designed to cut external metric coarse threads on iron and steel workpieces. With an M10x1.5 thread size and a 38 mm outside diameter, this die fits standard round die stocks used in manual threading operations. Constructed from high-speed steel (HSS), it handles the heat and wear demands of production and maintenance threading work. The adjustable design allows minor pitch diameter tuning for fit and finish control. Right-hand thread direction follows standard metric fastener convention. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-and-die tradespeople are the primary users.
This die is suited for threading M10x1.5 bolts, studs, and rod stock in both shop and field environments. The 38 mm OD is a common size that seats in widely available round die holders and die stocks. Typical applications include fabrication of threaded fasteners, repair of damaged threads on iron or steel components, and custom thread cutting in maintenance and repair operations. The Series 135 designation places it within a standardized OSG product line for replacement and service tooling.
Designed for use on iron and steel workpieces requiring M10x1.5 metric coarse external threads. Fits standard round die holders and die stocks with a 38 mm bore.
This die is installed by a machinist or qualified technician into a matching round die stock before threading operations begin. Secure the die firmly in the holder before applying torque to avoid slippage and thread damage. Apply cutting oil to the workpiece before threading to extend die life and improve thread quality. Inspect the die for wear or chipping before each use, particularly on hardened or abrasive materials.
