The OSG 461-2500 is a 6-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. With a 0.25-inch cutting diameter, a 0.75-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle, this tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action on a wide range of workpiece materials. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for production milling operations. It is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with a right-hand spiral flute configuration and a bright, uncoated finish. The OSG 461-2500 belongs to OSG Series 461, a line of solid carbide square end mills built for regular-length cutting applications. The 0.25-inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders sized for quarter-inch tooling. The centercutting design allows plunge entry into the workpiece when the operation requires it. Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle at a full stop and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Seat the 0.25-inch shank fully and evenly in the collet or tool holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder specification before running. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and verify runout with a dial indicator when tight tolerances are required. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder recommendations for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut appropriate to the workpiece material.
