The OSG 460-1250 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 0.125-inch (1/8-inch) cutting diameter with a 0.5-inch length of cut and a 1.5-inch overall length. The three-flute geometry and 60-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Micrograin carbide construction delivers hardness and wear resistance suited to demanding cut conditions. This end mill ships uncoated (bright finish) and is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry into workpieces. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, toolroom, and production environments.
The OSG 460-1250 is suited for light to moderate milling operations including slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Its compact 0.125-inch diameter makes it well matched to fine-detail work, tight-radius contours, and small-feature machining. The regular-length configuration and 0.125-inch shank diameter fit standard collet chucks and end mill holders found on vertical machining centers and CNC milling machines. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction follow standard conventions for the majority of milling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option within the OSG 460C series. Fits standard 1/8-inch collet chucks and end mill holders on vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the 0.125-inch shank fully and evenly in the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts, as excessive runout at this diameter significantly reduces tool life and surface finish quality.
