The OSG 455-3752 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations across a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. With a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 7/8 inch length of cut, and a 5-flute geometry paired with a 45-degree helix angle, this tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes at higher feed rates. The micrograin carbide substrate provides wear resistance and edge retention suited to demanding production environments. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool with a centercutting capability, allowing it to plunge directly into workpiece material. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, tool rooms, and production facilities are the primary users.
The 455-3752 is well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where an uncoated carbide tool is appropriate. The 3/8 inch shank diameter matches the 3/8 inch cutting diameter for direct chuck or collet mounting without a reducer. The 2-1/2 inch overall length keeps overhang manageable for rigidity in tight-clearance setups. Its spiral flute design and 45-degree helix angle make it a practical choice for applications requiring smooth chip flow and reduced cutting forces, including finishing passes on steel, aluminum, and similar materials.
Part of the OSG Series 455C line of solid carbide square end mills. Designed for use with standard 3/8 inch collets, end mill holders, or equivalent toolholding systems on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine in a full stop, lockout state per shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to avoid premature edge wear. Extended reach or long-overhang setups are not recommended for this tool given its standard 2-1/2 inch overall length.
