The OSG 455-2812 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metal cutting and machining applications. It features a 0.2813-inch cutting diameter, a 0.75-inch length of cut, and a 0.3125-inch shank diameter with an overall length of 2.5 inches. The 5-flute geometry paired with a 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and delivers a smooth surface finish in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Manufactured from micrograin carbide, this end mill maintains edge integrity under demanding cutting conditions. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The OSG 455-2812 is suited for peripheral and slot milling operations in machining centers and CNC mills. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute configuration makes it a standard choice for conventional and climb milling passes. Its regular-length profile fits typical toolholding setups without requiring extended-reach adapters. The bright, uncoated finish makes it a versatile option across a range of workpiece materials where coating chemistry is not required or preferred. It is typically deployed in precision metalworking applications where close dimensional tolerances are maintained.
Part of the OSG Series 455C, this end mill is designed for use in standard CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.3125-inch round shank toolholder.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be brought to a full stop and the tool-change procedure for the specific machine must be followed before seating or removing the end mill. Verify toolholder runout and clamp the shank to the toolholder manufacturer's specified retention method before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and cut depth.
