The OSG 447101411 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 0.01 inch corner radius, and 4 helical flutes ground from micrograin carbide for edge stability and wear resistance. The tool carries a WXS PVD coating, which improves surface hardness and thermal resistance during dry or semi-dry cutting. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. This end mill is single-end, centercutting, and right-hand cutting with a high helix angle of 45 degrees. It is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals running CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
The OSG 447101411 belongs to the Series 4471 extended-reach line and is suited for roughing and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The length of cut is 1/4 inch nominal (1.7717 inches decimal), with a reach length of 3/4 inch and a neck diameter of 0.242 inches. This geometry makes it appropriate for slotting, profiling, and contouring in tight-clearance setups where a reduced neck is needed to access recessed features without interference.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H). Shank diameter tolerance is h6; mill diameter tolerance is 0.0000 to -0.0008 inches.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder collet or chuck and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
