The OSG 447-1875 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a 3/16 inch cutting diameter and 4-flute spiral geometry, this tool delivers clean square shoulders, slots, and profiling cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while reducing cutting forces. At 2 inches overall length with a 5/8 inch length of cut, the 447-1875 is built for tight-tolerance work in compact setups. Micrograin carbide construction provides hardness and wear resistance suited to high-speed machining applications. Installation and use are handled by CNC machinists and manual mill operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill fits standard 3/16 inch collets and tool holders used in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling passes. Left-hand flute direction combined with right-hand cut promotes chip pulling away from the finished surface, which is useful in slotting and pocket milling. The regular-length profile makes it well suited to shallow-to-mid-depth features where rigidity is a priority over extended reach.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for 3/16 inch collet systems on CNC vertical machining centers and manual milling machines; belongs to OSG Series 447.
Install and torque the collet nut according to the tool holder manufacturer specifications before engaging the spindle. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is isolated before changing end mills. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation - excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish. Follow applicable shop safety practices and machine guarding requirements during operation.
