The OSG 414-1562 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 5/32-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 4-flute, spiral geometry at a 30-degree helix angle to balance chip evacuation with surface finish. At 2 inches overall length with a stub-length profile, this end mill is well suited for setups requiring a short, stiff tool that minimizes deflection. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole.
The 414-1562 is intended for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual mills handling close-tolerance work. Its 5/16-inch length of cut and 3/16-inch shank diameter make it appropriate for light-material removal passes and finish milling in confined pockets or shallow features. The uncoated finish suits applications where coating is applied by the shop or where the base carbide substrate is preferred for the workpiece material. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction follow standard tooling conventions for most vertical milling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter in standard ER or collet-style toolholders.
Installation and tool changes should be performed only after the spindle has come to a complete stop and the machine is powered down or locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the collet or toolholder bore is clean and the shank is fully seated before torquing the drawbar or collet nut. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use - micrograin carbide is rigid but brittle under lateral shock. Tool runout should be verified with a dial indicator before beginning finish passes.
