The OSG 414-0787-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding industrial and toolroom applications. Built to OSG quality standards under the Series 414BN lineup, it features a 0.0787-inch (2.00 mm) diameter, a 4-flute helical geometry with a 30-degree helix angle, and a 1.00 mm nose radius that produces accurate ball-nose profiles. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3.00 mm and the overall length is 39.00 mm, keeping the tool compact and rigid. Rated for both roughing and finishing operations, this end mill suits machinists and CNC operators working in short-run and production environments.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction follow standard CNC machining conventions. The standard-length configuration and 4.00 mm length of cut make it well-matched to shallow-to-mid-depth profiling, contouring, and slot milling passes on vertical and horizontal machining centers. No coolant-through or extended-reach features are included, keeping setup straightforward for general-purpose work.
Designed for use with standard 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank toolholders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, H).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Use a properly sized collet or shrink-fit holder rated for 3.00 mm shanks and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended depth of cut for the listed length of cut to avoid deflection or tool breakage.
