The OSG 414-0312 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling in tight-tolerance applications. Built from micrograin carbide, this stub-length tool offers a 0.0313-inch (1/32 inch) cutting diameter and a 0.0781-inch (5/64 inch) length of cut. Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry follows standard milling convention. The 0.125-inch (1/8 inch) shank and 1.5-inch overall length make it compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry. This tool is typically installed by machinists and CNC operators working in precision job shop or production environments.
The OSG 414-0312 is suited for small-feature milling operations where dimensional accuracy and tool rigidity are critical. Its stub-length construction minimizes deflection when machining slots, pockets, and contours in harder materials. The uncoated micrograin carbide substrate performs reliably in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials under appropriate cutting conditions. This end mill fits applications in aerospace, medical device, mold and die, and general precision machining where a 1/32-inch diameter tool is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for standard 1/8-inch collet chucks and end mill holders used in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Use a calibrated collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts to protect this small-diameter tool from premature breakage.
