The OSG 412-2188 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. With a 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) cutting diameter and a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) length of cut, this stub-length tool offers rigidity and resistance to deflection in shallow-to-moderate depth cuts. The 1/4 inch shank diameter and 2 inch overall length make it compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Two spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle provide efficient chip evacuation. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers hardness and wear resistance suited for ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in job shops, tool rooms, and production machining environments. Its centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard for most vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers as well as manual knee mills. The uncoated finish makes this tool a solid choice for applications where coating is not required or where regrinding is anticipated.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in the OSG Series 412 line. Fits standard 1/4 inch collet chucks, ER collets, and end mill holders used on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 1/4 inch shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used if damaged.
