The OSG 412-1772 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Part of OSG's Series 412, this stub-length end mill features a 0.1772-inch cutting diameter, a 0.3543-inch length of cut, and a 0.1969-inch shank diameter. The two-flute geometry and 30-degree helix angle support efficient chip evacuation and controlled cutting action. Micrograin carbide construction provides hardness and wear resistance suited for demanding cutting conditions. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for general-purpose milling where coating is not required.
This end mill is suited for light to medium-duty milling in tool and die, moldmaking, general machining, and precision component fabrication. The stub-length profile minimizes deflection, making it a practical choice when rigidity is a priority in tight-clearance setups. The centercutting capability allows plunge cuts in addition to peripheral and slot milling. It is typically used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where small-diameter tooling is required.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill in OSG Series 412, sized for standard 0.1969-inch shank collets and tool holders used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a properly sized collet or end mill holder and tighten to the tool holder manufacturer's specified clamping procedure. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut.
