The OSG 4100004411 is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting 5/8-11 UNC internal threads in a single helical interpolation pass. Built from solid carbide and finished with OSG EXO coating, it delivers hard-material performance with extended tool life. The cutter measures 0.430 inches in cutting diameter with a 1.453-inch length of cut, mounted on a 1/2-inch shank. With 4 flutes and 11 teeth per inch, it produces clean, accurate thread forms in steels, stainless alloys, and similar workpiece materials. This is a long-reach design from OSG Series 41000, suited for deeper thread applications where standard-reach tools fall short.
This thread mill is used in CNC machining centers performing UNC thread milling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Long-reach geometry makes it appropriate for applications where thread depth or part geometry requires extended tool projection. It is a right-hand flute, right-hand cut tool with no coolant-through capability. Machinists running production threading cycles on mill-turn equipment or vertical machining centers will find this tool fits standard 1/2-inch ER or side-lock toolholding systems. It is sized for threading holes at or above the 5/8-inch nominal diameter.
Designed for CNC machining centers using standard 1/2-inch shank toolholders; cuts 5/8-11 UNC threads per the UNC thread standard with a minimum nominal hole diameter of 0.625 inches.
Thread mills require CNC helical interpolation cycles — confirm the machine control supports G02/G03 helical moves before use. Secure the 1/2-inch shank in a properly torqued, runout-checked toolholder to maintain thread accuracy. This tool does not support coolant-through delivery; direct external coolant or cutting fluid to the cutting zone as appropriate for the workpiece material. Replace worn tools before dimensional thread tolerance is compromised.
