The OSG 4100000511 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal 10-32 UNF threads in a single helical pass. With a 0.13-inch cutting diameter and a 0.374-inch length of cut, it handles tight-tolerance internal threading in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The three-flute right-hand cutting geometry produces clean thread forms while maintaining chip evacuation at speed. An EXO coating — OSG's high-performance TiAlN-based finish — provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding milling operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this mill on CNC machining centers where thread milling is preferred over tapping for precision, tool-life control, or difficult materials.
This thread mill is suited for internal 10-32 UNF threading applications in production and job-shop environments. Its 3/16-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and shrink-fit holders commonly found on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand thread direction make it compatible with standard CNC thread milling cycles available in most G-code controllers. It is a fit for applications where tap breakage risk is unacceptable or where a single tool must thread multiple hole sizes through adjusted CNC toolpath programming.
Designed as an OEM-style thread milling tool for use in CNC machining centers equipped with standard thread milling cycles and collet or shrink-fit toolholding systems accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter.
Thread mills must be programmed with a helical interpolation cycle — consult the machine control documentation for the correct G-code thread milling routine before use. Ensure the spindle and axis drives are fully homed and the workpiece is securely fixtured before engaging the tool. Tool runout should be verified with a dial indicator at the collet before production runs, as runout directly affects thread pitch diameter accuracy. This tool requires no special installation beyond correct toolholder torque per the toolholder manufacturer specification.
